ATV/ORM/ORV & Snowmobile Registrations Due

2022 ATV Registrations

The Story County Recorder’s Office would like to remind everyone that ATV/ORM/ORV and snowmobile registrations are due by December 31, 2022.  Any renewals received after that date will incur a $5.00 penalty per vehicle.   Please provide a current e-mail address when renewing to ensure you receive a courtesy e-mail reminder each year, as the Recorder’s Office is now emailing renewal reminders to recreational vehicle owners.

The recent passage of ATV/UTV Bill HF2130 on July 1, 2022, allows any registered (ATV/UTV) vehicle to be operated in all 99 counties of Iowa as long as you obey the laws, as listed here https://www.legis.iowa.gov/legislation/BillBook?ga=89&ba=hf2130  A current DNR sticker is one of the requirements to ride on the roadways.

In addition to the registration, all snowmobiles operated on public land must display a separate user permit.  This permit can be purchased at the Recorder’s Office as well as several other vendors throughout Story County.

The Story County Recorder’s office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The office will be closed November 24th & 25th and December 23rd & 26th, 2022.

If you have any questions, please stop into the office or call us at (515) 382-7230.
