Story County Trails Master Plan - Complete

Story County Conservation recently sought an updated trails plan for future trail priorities and improvements, following recent successes in land acquisition, funding and the extension and paving of miles of trails. Heart of Iowa Nature Trail: Temporary Spring Closures

Two portions of the newly paved  Heart of Iowa Nature trail (HOINT) will close this spring for trail improvement. The section of the HOINT between 640th Avenue and Army Post Road,Heart of Iowa Nature Trail closure west of Maxwell, will close on Monday, March 31.

Heart of Iowa Nature Trail: Open from Slater to Collins

Story County Conservation (SCC) is excited to announce the opening of the newly paved 8.6-mile portion of the Heart of Iowa Nature Trail (HOINT) from County Road S-14 eastward to Collins. The trail will remain closed to snowmobile traffic between 630th and 640th Avenues, and 690th Avenue to Highway 65 in Collins, due to erosion control practices still in place.Map of Story County showing Heart of Iowa Nature Trail with updated closure and opening labels
