Derecho storm damage is extensive. We are still working to clear parks and trails -- this will be ongoing for awhile.
As of September 4, the following areas are still closed:
- Dakins Lake - primitive campground, trails, and lake are open. Main campground remains closed with a target reopen date of September 24.
- Side loops trails between Soper’s Mill to Bear Creek on Skunk River Greenbelt (signage on site)
- Skunk River Water Trail - several sections have large trees down
Please still use caution in reopened parks -- stay aware of your surroundings and don’t go under or near damaged trees. Some trails in reopened parks have been blocked off; please mind caution tape and barricades. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. We will keep updating this post as we clear more areas.
