SEASONAL CONTRACT POSITION

 

        Story County Conservation

      Campground Attendant – Dakins Lake & Hickory Grove

 


Up to two resident campground attendant positions (at each site) are available for the 2025 camping season at both Dakins Lake in Zearing and Hickory Grove Park in Colo.

 

There will be two contract periods at each park:  March 31 - July 13 and July 14 – October 31.  If offered, one candidate may accept both contract periods.

 

Responsibilities and Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to: cleaning and maintaining restrooms, preparing shelters for rental groups, cleaning grills and fire rings, interacting with the public, providing general park information and informing campers of park rules, selling firewood, checking registration of campers, and performing other duties as assigned.

 

Work Hours: Variable hours, as agreed upon by the campground attendant and park ranger, will include nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Requirements: Applicant must be at least 18 years of age, provide his/her own on-site sleep unit for the course of the contract, and possess a current, valid driver's license. The campground attendant must have the ability to communicate and interact with people of all ages and cultures, be dependable, and feel comfortable working in a public setting. Physical exertion is required, including standing, walking, stooping, and lifting (up to 50 pounds).  The contractor will undergo background checks in reference to his/her driving record, child abuse registry, and criminal history.

 

The campground attendant must enter into a contract agreement with Story County Conservation.

 

Wage/Benefits: The campground attendant is a contract position at $240/week (paid bi-weekly). The contractor may, at their discretion and subject to Story County Conservation approval, employ such other person or persons as desired to assist in required work under this contract. The campground attendant will have a free, designated campsite with electricity, sewer, water, and firewood.
