[ARCHIVED] Hog Confinement Proposed for Section 5 of Richland Township

Hog Confinement Proposed for Section 5 of Richland Township

Story County received a manure management plan (MMP) and Construction Design Statement (CDS) on June 12, 2012, submitted by Richland Finisher Farm and owned by Eric Jensen. The MMP is for a proposed hog confinement facility to be constructed approximately six miles north of Nevada. The facility will have a capacity of 2,290 head of swine >55 pounds, with an annual production of 4,980 hogs. A facility this size does not require a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) construction permit nor does it trigger a county master matrix review. The DNR is the permitting authority for this facility. For additional information, contact the DNR Field Office #5 at 515-625-0268 or jeff.theobald@dnr.iowa.gov or bill.gibbons@dnr.iowa.gov. Copies of the MMP and CDS are on file and may be viewed in the Story County Environmental Health office located in the basement of the Administration Building at 900 6th Street, Nevada (515-382-7240). This will be on the 6/26/2012 Board of Supervisor’s meeting agenda.
