[ARCHIVED] Excessive Heat Warning for Story County

Story County is included in an Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service until 7AM Saturday. Heat indices of 100 to 110 degrees are expected today and Friday afternoon as temperatures climb into the mid 90's to around 100 degrees. Heat indices will remain in the 90's during evening hours resulting in little relief.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures is occurring. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives, neighbors and pets. Follow the additional information for tips from the National Weather Service on Heat Safety.
