[ARCHIVED] Deadline extended for backpacking adventure for high school kids!

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

This is an inspiring seven-day backpacking adventure to Great Smoky Mountains National Park! 

This camp runs June 27 - July 3 and is for youth completing grades 9-12 in spring 2018. 


DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED!

Experience three nights back-country camping in what is considered the most diverse habitat in North America. Surround yourself with ancient mountains, waterfalls, and lush forest. Conclude your journey with a white water rafting trip down the Nantahala River. Challenge your mind, body, and spirit and make it a summer to remember! How do you earn a spot? Complete an application and letter of support, and deliver it to McFarland Park or email it to hhucka@storycountyiowa.gov by 4:00 p.m. on May 18. If selected, you will begin your journey with a training day on June 12 at McFarland Park. 


$350 fee with application required by 4pm on Friday, May 18. Scholarships available at: http://www.iowanaturalists.org/wilderness_trips.htm
