The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends a radon action level of 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). Studies by the EPA have shown that the state of Iowa has the highest percentage of homes above the action level of 4 pCi/L in the United States.
You can easily test for radon in your home by purchasing a radon test kit. The best time to test for radon levels in your building is during the winter heating season, but tests can be conducted at any time of year.
