2023 Tax Sale will be held Tuesday, June 20th due to all Story County offices being closed Monday, June 19th to observe Juneteenth
I, Ted Rasmusson, Treasurer of Story County, Iowa hereby give notice that the Story County Annual Tax Sale will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 9:00 A.M in the Story County Administration Building’s Public Meeting Room; 900 6th St. Nevada, Iowa. All bids must be placed online. Registered bidders can access the auction site by going to www.IowaTaxAuction.com. On said day, I will, as required by law, offer to the public at tax sale the following described real estate parcels, mobile homes, and special assessments, which any taxes at the time of sale remain delinquent and unpaid.
Taxpayers who wish to avoid their taxes being sold at this tax sale, must make in office payments by 4:30 P.M. Friday, June 16, 2023 or pay online at www.IowaTreasurers.org by midnight on June 15, 2023.
When a parcel is purchased at tax sale and not redeemed within the period provided in Chapter 447 of the Code of Iowa, the right to redeem expires and a deed may be issued to the certificate holder.
Parcels shown on the “Public Bidder Sale” indicates property that have been advertised two or more years, without sale. If private bids are not received, Story County, through the Board of Supervisors, purchases the taxes.
An adjourned tax sale will be held any business day following the annual tax sale in which there are bidders present and parcels are still available for sale.
