  • Story County Conservation (SCC) strives to be wise stewards of our wildlife, lands, and water. This recently led us to adopt a rule requiring non-toxic ammunition for all hunting in SCC areas.
  • A carry-in, carry-out trash policy exists at all county parks. Any trash you carry in must be taken with you.
  • Be considerate of others so that everyone may enjoy the outdoors.
  • Building of fires is permitted only in designated areas. Be sure your fire is out before leaving.
  • Camping and swimming are permitted only in designated areas.
  • Only electric trolling motors are allowed on Story County lakes; gasoline-powered motors are prohibited.
  • Park hours are 5:00 AM - 10:30 PM, unless otherwise designated.
  • Park only in designated parking areas.
  • Pets must be kept on leashes in non-hunting areas at all times.
  • Please do not remove or damage any park vegetation. Nuts, fruit, and mushrooms, however, may be harvested.
  • Please observe and obey all signs.
  • Public hunting is allowed only in designated areas. Dogs must be kept on leashes from March 15 to July 15 in public hunting areas and under control at all other times.
  • Remember, take only photographs; leave only footprints.
