Volunteering

In today’s challenging economy, law enforcement agencies are facing increased responsibilities with fewer resources. Volunteerism, a critical component of the Story County Sheriff’s Office assists in bridging this gap.

Volunteers at the Story County Sheriff’s Office perform important tasks in the various divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. Volunteers work in the capacity of divers on the dive team and deputies on the Sheriff’s Reserve. Volunteers also perform secretarial duties in Support Services and with the Drug Task Force.

The Sheriff’s Office utilizes volunteers to coordinate visitation in the jail as well as provide assistance in the presentation of the annual Citizen’s Academy. Volunteers also play an active role in the maintenance of the buildings and grounds at the Sheriff’s Office Firing Range.

Each year, these loyal and dedicated men and women give countless hours of their time to the Story County Sheriff’s Office in serving the citizens of Story County.

Our hats go off to all the volunteers who have and are currently working at the Story County Sheriff’s Office.
