About the Sheriff's Office

Overview

The Story County Sheriff's Office is a progressive and professional full-service law enforcement agency consisting of 90 full-time employees. We serve approximately 97,000 citizens in an area of 576 square miles located in central Iowa. Story County is home to Ames, where Iowa State University and the Iowa Department of Transportation are located.

About the Office

The Sheriff's Office is made up of five primary divisions, including the following:
