About the Sheriff's Office


The Story County Sheriff's Office is a progressive and professional full-service law enforcement agency consisting of 82 full-time employees. We serve approximately 84,000 citizens in an area of 576 square miles located in central Iowa. Story County is home to Ames, where Iowa State University and the Iowa Department of Transportation are located.

About the Office

The Sheriff's Office is made up of five primary divisions, including the following:
